ESL – Programs for immigrants inclusive of citizenship, English as a second language, and workforce preparation.
 
ABE/ASE – Adult Basic Education / Adult Secondary Education - Elementary and secondary skills, including programs leading to a high school diploma or equivalency certificate.
 
CTE – Career Technical Education / Short-term Vocational Programs - training that is short term in nature and has high employment potential. This category also includes formerly separated categories for older adults (typically over age 55) and Pre-apprenticeship.
 
ASK12 - Adults Supporting K12 - Programs for adults, including but not limited to, older adults that are primarily designed to develop knowledge and skills to assist elementary and secondary school children to succeed academically in school.
 
AWD – Adults with Disabilities - programs and training supporting adults with disabilities.
 
Other Workgroups:
 
CSS - Counseling Student Support - Community of practice focused on aligned counseling, student support resources, and best practices to guide student orientation, on-boarding, retention, persistence, progress, completion and transitions for success.
 
Data Workgroup - regular meeting of campus data professionals and administrators to review consortium data, align policies,and best practices to ensure data integrity across the consortium.

Purpose of the Work GroupsTop of Page

  1. Assist in the evaluation of the educational needs of adults in the region for specific program areas.
  2. Provide a description of the services provided in specific program area.
  3. Assist in the evaluation of the services provided in specific program areas.
  4. Identify actions that members of the consortium will take to address the education needs identified in #1.
  5. Identify the actions that members of the consortium will take to improve the effectiveness of their services.
  6. Identify actions that members of the consortium will take to improve integration of services and to improve transitions into postsecondary education and the workforce, including action related to all of the following:
    • Placement of adults seeking education and workforce services into adult education programs
    • Alignment of academic standards and curricula for programs across entities that provide education and workforce services to adults
    • Qualification of instructors, including common standards across entities that provide education and workforce services to adults
    • Collection and availability of data
  7. Describe the alignment of adult education serviced support by this program with those described in other education and workforce plans guiding services in the region, including plans pertaining to the building of career pathways and the employment of workforce sector strategies and those required pursuant to the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
